ScreenPlayMate
Synopsis:
ScreenPlayMate is envisioned as an online screenplay writers collaboration tool. First, it would be an online screenplay authoring tool that would automatically format screenplay similar to Movie Magic or online tools such as ScriptBuddy or Scripped.
But ScreenPlayMate was always envisioned as more of a collaboration tool than any of these programs have ever become. In other words, multiple writers could all work on the same script, trying out different variations on structure, scenes, or specific elements, discussing them, etc. It’s a more ambitions project than any of the ones listed above, and I’ve never heard of a tool quite like this.
ScreenPlayMate also includes a much more interesting business model than any of those products, too. Huge income potential. To learn more about that, complete the Contact Me form.
Status:
I first began working on this site sometime around 1999 and I worked on it off and on for several years. I had a pretty decent screenplay authoring tool working, but it was really just the core functionality. I never did get around to trying to program the collaboration aspect, which would be much more involved. There is currently a website up at ScreenPlayMate.com, and the tool theoretically works, but the code is so ancient that I wouldn’t bother trying.
I have the rudiments of a business plan developed for this project. If people show some interest in this project I could build that out into a more complete plan
Noteworthy
I really would love to have a screenplay collaboration tool capable of handling a large number of collaborators to go with my Stories projects, as I have concept for an open-sourced screenplay project.
