eNormal
Synopsis:
Noteworthy:
If I were forced to choose just one of my business ideas to pursue, this one would be it. I pondered for quite some time whether to move forward with Project: Overnight Success or to just focus on eNormal.
eNormal combines a fresh approach to opinion polls with game theory and crowdsourcing into an engaging community that could be really huge!
There are many polling sites such as Quibblo, Quizopolis, Bzoink, PollPidgeon, and probably many more. So while there’s obviously plenty of interest in polls, maybe the field is a little crowded? I don’t think so. eNormal can be so much more compelling than any of these for a much wider audience. (Most of the polling sites seem to target pre-teen or teenage girls).
What makes eNormal so different? In addition to just letting people see the results of polls, each poll a person takes can accrue to their own personality profile. Over time, people can begin to see whether they are “normal” or not, understand their own views a lot more, and connect with other people who have similar (or different) personality profiles. Additionally, a game layer that offers rewards and even cash for participation will make this site more engaging still.
Status:
ENormal is one of my more recent brainstorms. I first began working on the site last summer, but haven’t worked on it much lately. The site currently exists at eNormal.org. I’m pretty happy with the look and feel of the site. It’s functional though is probably buggy. I developed it using my own custom code. It’s the best code I’ve ever written, but it really should be migrated onto a PHP framework like Zend or CodeIgniter. I also have some pretty detailed design specs created and the beginning of a business plan.
The other thing I’ve got for eNormal is a top-secret algorithm that is really the “secret sauce” of this project. So with some proprietary technology, a unique business model and a vast market, I think this one is a very viable project.
